While rheological measurements provide information about the physical behavior of a material, spectroscopy gives additional information about the chemical properties of a material under shear. Raman spectroscopy is, besides others like IR, NIR, and ATR, a well-known analysis method. Rheo-Raman can e.g. be used to investigate curing reactions. The so-called crossover of the moduli signalizes a change from liquid to solid. Further chemical insights can be derived from the Raman spectra, which are detected simultaneously to the rheological data.
