Magnetorheology

Magnetorheology is the science of the flow behavior of magnetorheological- and ferrofluids. These fluids are so-called smart materials whose properties (viscosity, modulus) significantly change when a magnetic field is applied. They are used as dampers in the automotive, aerospace, or construction industries and also, among other things, in prostheses. A rheometer with a Magneto-Rheological Device (MRD) is used to apply a magnetic flux density of up to 1.3 Tesla within a temperature range of -10 °C to 170 °C.
