Tartaric acid density

Description

Tartaric acid is an organic acid that naturally occurs in many fruits, most notably in grapes but also in bananas and citrus fruits. The pure compound is a white, crystalline solid which can easily be dissolved in water.

Approx. 50 % of the produced tartaric acid is subsequently used by the food and pharmaceutical industry, the other half is used in technical applications. When added to food or beverage products, tartaric acid is denoted by E-number E 334.

Besides that, tartaric acid and its derivatives are often used in the field of pharmaceuticals or as a chelating agent in the farming and metal industry.
