Urea density

Description

Urea, also known as carbamide, is an organic compound with the chemical formula CO(NH2)2. Urea has an important role in many biological processes, such as the metabolism of proteins, and is the main nitrogen-containing substance in the urine of mammals. In its pure form it is a colorless, odorless solid which can easily be dissolved in water.

Industrially, urea is produced from synthetic ammonia and carbon dioxide. Approximately 90 % of the industrially produced urea is subsequently used in the production of nitrogen-containing fertilizers.

Besides that, urea is used in cosmetic products to promote rehydration of the skin or in the chemical industry as a raw material for other processes.
