Viscosity of Chloroform
Description
Chloroform, also called trichloromethane, is an organic compound with the formula CHCl3. It is one of the four chloromethanes. It is a nonflammable, clear, colorless liquid that is denser than water and has a pleasant etherlike odor. It is considered to be hazardous. It is believed to be toxic to the liver and kidneys and may cause liver cancer. Chloroform was once widely used as a solvent, but safety and environmental concerns have reduced this use. Nevertheless, chloroform has remained an important industrial chemical.
